Selah Selam is a nominee for Best Screenplay at the Firenze Film Festival in Italy, to be held this year on August 31 at the historic Odeon theater. From the festival description on Film Freeway:
“At Firenze Film Festival we are looking for the stories that stay with the audience after leaving the cinema, that challenge the way we think and feel about the world around us.”
Note to Selah: This may be your last stop on the festival tour, so I’m glad it’s in Florence, one of the great cities of the world. One thing that’s a little worrying: there is only one script category at the festival, so for the first time your story will be up against feature-length works for Best Screenplay.
Selah’s Reply: Your lilies and worries have brought Matthew 6:28-34 to my mind: “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these…
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”
