Preparations are being made in the City of Joy for the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival’s (CICFF) annual awards event, to be held this year on December 5-6. Monthly winners in main filmmaking categories are eligible for this year’s Golden Fox Awards.
The World Series of Screenwriting announced today that Selah Selam is the 2017 winner of the Silver Award for Short Film Scripts. My congratulations to Frances Wilkerson for winning the Gold Award and to Ian Davies (Bronze). See: worldseriesofscreenwriting.com/awards/2017-winners
Note to Selah: In response to a comment I received on the script logline posted on Stage32, I wrote: “Selah may be my own character, but even I am somewhat in awe of her as a holy person-in-the-making.” Anyway, I’m glad to put your story out there, and hope it might bring you some acclaim…
Selah’s reply: You are so funny, Dr. M! Ginny warned me that you could get overly sentimental about your characters. You know perfectly well you shouldn’t confuse the message with the messenger. I’m far from being a saint, and certainly not seeking fame, only trying to make an appeal for unity. Peace and love — Selah. P.S. And please say hi to your daughter for me!
The ACFF, organized by Elie Toussant and Mikel Fair, includes a screenplay contest and screenings of short comedies at the Synchronicity Theater in Atlanta on December 11th from 7:00 – 9:30.
CATEGORY: BEST FEATURE LENGTH SCREENPLAY
Forward Progress by Zachary Madson and Garret Geist; Life Ends @30 by Michael Field; Longbox Breakup Screenplay by Houston Coley; The Chaos Makers by Michael Vincent Montgomery; and Tim’s Island by Clint Orr.
Update 12-11: And the award goes to Clint Orr for Tim’s Island. Congratulations, Clint!
Secondhand Saints was recently chosen as a finalist in the Circus Road Screenplay Contest; “Hollywood Redux,” a film treatment, was a winner at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival.
