The screenplay Lexington Blue has reached the finals of the River Bend Festival (April 6-8). Goshen, Indiana, the home of the fest, is a true haven for avant-garde and underground film. Its Independent Script Competition is one of the indie world’s most prestigious, judged by Stephen Susco, writer of such films as The Grudge (2004), Red (2008), and Beyond the Reach (2014).
Note to Mordechai and Hunny-J: Goshen is cinema sacred ground, the birthplace of Howard Hawks, who directed Scarface, Sergeant York, Bringing up Baby, His Girl Friday, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Red River, Rio Bravo, and too many other classic films to mention. Even if your interest in film doesn’t extend much past anime, Hunny-J, you should know that MoMA considers many of Hawks’ works masterpieces of cinematic art.
